July 24 Gander and the North Atlantic Aviation Museum

After visiting the museum and reading the book about 9/11 we have put Gander at the top of the list of places you should visit if you ever get the opportunity.  The Gander story is an amazing one of kindness, generosity and resilience.  Amazing that a population of 10,000 managed to accommodate over 6,500 stranded travelers.  You have to read the book "When the World Came to Town, 9/11".  It was just by chance we stayed here, but it was one of our best decisions.

Famous people who came to Gander at one time or other.

Yup, that's Castro on that sled!

Another tragedy that occurred in Gander and the amazing Memorial built to honor those lost souls.

We stopped here for a root beer float.  Can't remember the last time I had one of those.  YUM

Our new mascots...the Captain and the Co-pilot.
