July 17 Shipwreck Effie

The rusted remains still remain here on the shore amidst the rocks it crashed on.

A jelly fish in with all the beautiful rocks.  So many interesting shapes and colors of rocks.

The remains of Effie's engine

All along this rugged shore there is fragile beauty.

Lobster Point Lighthouse in Rocky Harbor

Rocky Harbor.  This is a pretty large town in Newfoundland.  Note everything is along the shore because until the late 1930's when they joined Canada there were no roads.  All transportation was by ship and in the winter snowmobiles.

Everything looks relatively new,  in reality most of the homes are pretty old, but covered with vinyl siding.  Prior to vinyl the houses had really poor insulation so now that they have roads and access to vinyl and insulation almost EVERY house we saw was covered in vinyl siding and had new windows. Note the red and white house in the back is just getting rehabbed.
