Revised Itinerary as of 4/23

Part 1 of the "Adventure": FL to Lake Geneva, WI
First stop will be West of Ocala at Rainbow Springs State Park. We should arrive on May 1 and leave on the 3rd.
Last stop in Florida will be in Marianna at Florida Caverns State Park. Turns out we have to see the Caverns on Thurs. AM as they are closed the two days we planned to be there! Timing!!! Probably wont make it to Tupelo, but somewhere in between and longer day in to Memphis than original plan. After Carlsbad Caverns in NM we are anxious to see more of these amazing gems.
We have reservations at T.O. Fuller State Park in Memphis May 6 to 10.
Things we've heard that we should see in Memphis:
Blues City Cafe, Graceland, Sun Studios, Gibson Guitar Factory, Memphis Rock N Soul Museum, Riverboat cruise, Stax Museum of American Soul, Beale Street, Having a drink on the roof top of the Peabody Hotel and seeing the ducks, Pink palace Museum, Statue of Elvis, Memphis Botanic Gardens. Dining: A.Schwab, Brother Junipers for a breakfast, Central BBQ, Muddy's bake shop and Soulfish Cafe. We'll only be there 4 days (unless we change our minds) so probably wont hit all of these, but once we get there we'll see how much we can cram in. If you've been there and have a suggestions or a NIX, please let us know. Same goes for all the lists below.
Nashville will be the next major stop and we have 4 days here as well:
Ryman Auditorium, Grand Ole Oprey, RCA Studios, Johnny Cash Museum, Belmont Mansion, Belcourt Theatre, Parthenon in Centennial Park, Tennessee State Capital, Jack Daniels Distillery, Travellers Rest Plantation, Andrew Jackson's Hermitage, Country Music Hall of Fame, Creekwood Botanical Garden, Belle Mead Plantation, Carnation Museum, Fort Nashborough.
Gatlinburg / Smokey Mountain National Park
We have about a week here. Aside from the obvious tourist attractions we'll spend a lot of time touring the National Park with a definite trip to see my family in Clarkesville and Gainesville, GA at some point. Having the car will allow us long day trips or even an over-night trip should we need to.
We have not booked reservations as yet for places to stay as we hate to be locked in to specific dates until we see how the trip goes and if we've allowed enough time. If you have suggestions of places to stay we'd love to hear them.
The ultimate goal for this portion of the trip is to be in Lake Geneva on the 28th of May. On the way there we hope to stop in Louisville, KY to see Churchill downs, but other than that we have no plans once we leave the Smokey's.

Barefoot Cottage getting prepped and new "dinghy"
Barefoot in the driveway at home in Fort Myers, FL
Front to back = Dining room, kitchen, bath to the right and master bedroom
From the "master" to the front.
Dining and living room
Front door, kitchen and master bedroom
We haven't named her yet, but there must be a clever name to identify our little addition? Suggestions??
OK, so she's only 27 feet, but she has everything we need to be our "tiny house" for the next 5 months.

Map of the journey
What is not showing is stop 23 which, if all goes according to the current plan, is Newfoundland! On the return we will spend additional time in Nova Scotia and PEI and almost a month in Maine, NH and MA before deadheading home.

Barefoot Adventure 2016 Planning Stages
It's getting down blast off time pretty soon. We should be hitting the road by the end of April. We have renter's coming in to the house on May 1 so that's a pretty good motivator. In the past week we've put new tires on Barefoot, changed the oil, etc. she's going to be "detailed" this week. We bought a 2009 Toyota Corolla to tow behind. The plan is to find a nice park and set up camp for a few days and then do day trips. This should make the "touring" part of the journey more fun and certainly a lot less stressful than driving BC through towns and looking for parking spaces. Starting tomorrow we'll be working on loading her up and getting her all organized. The plan is to be gone for FIVE months so it entails a little more forethought than before. This trip, just to Sydney, Nova Scotia will entail about 5800 miles, but at the moment the plan is to go on to Newfoundland as well so that will put a few more miles on the trip. We met a really nice couple a few weeks ago when we were camping at Highlands Hammock State Park (in Sebring, FL) who told us that as long as we were going to Nova Scotia and PEI and we had the time we should definitely add Newfoundland on the docket. As they said, "you wont go this way again so you might as well go all the way". We agree. Of course, looking in to the cost of the Ferry to get there and back was a bit staggering, but we think it will be worth it. Of course the next problem is being ABLE to book tickets. We understand the trip is pretty well booked. That's the next thing on our agenda....figure out when we can be there and then see if we can get on board. I purchased a new camera for this trip so be prepared, there WILL BE PICTURES! I'm excited about documenting the trip with photo's.
