May 8: A trip to Mud Island River Park in Memphis is a MUST if you go.

Looking Touth from the tram to Mud Island State Park, the Mighty Mississippi

Looking north towards the Bass Pro Shop building

The Mississippi in scale.  All 953.8 miles from Cairo, IL to New Orleans, LA

Incredible detail along with descriptive placards of major events along the river.  Popular for kids to walk in the river as parents watch.
Details of the Mississippi Riverwalk.  It truly is an amazing project and very educational.

We started at the Northern end of the project and walked all the way to New Orleans while Fred read every plaque along the way.  I spent more time wandering and taking pictures.

The exact details of where the river was, is and how it moved or affected Cities along the way is amazing.

At certain points along the way you see walls like these that show the river systems from different states that eventually run in to the Mighty Mississippi.  Kids have a great time cooling off.
Memphis skyline at the end of the River Walk and large pools where kids and families play and cool off on hot summer days.

The final marker depicting the end of the river into the Gulf of Mexico

Fred at the New Orleans outlet.....after walking the entire Mississippi (in scale).
Also on the Island is a fascinating Museum about the Mississippi, Memphis and the people who lived here.

Interesting history of how they bridged the Mississippi thanks to Captain James B. Eads
