May 23 Photos from the Kentucky Horse Park and Campground

We had the most awesome day today.  First off the Campground is gorgeous and a real find.  We highly recommend the campground if you come to Lexington.   The Kentucky Horse Park is a State Park and the Campground is part of it.  We spent the entire day walking around the park and enjoying the magnificent grounds, meeting some of the retired thoroughbreds, and touring the International Museum of the Horse.    At the Hall of Champions they brought the horses out one by one so we could see them up close and personal.   Two of the Thoroughbreds, "Funny Cide" and "Go for Gin", are former Kentucky Derby Winners.  Breeders' Cup Champion "Da Hoss" and a Standardbred champion, "Mr. Muscleman".  What magnificent horses!  The Museum was amazing and loaded with memorabilia from some of the great races, horse history and anything you would want to know about horses in general.

Lots of these guys hanging out around here.  Chirping up a storm, especially in the morning.

Our campsite at Kentucky Horse Park RV Campground.  What an awesome place.

This mechanical horse moves when you push a button and shows you how the muscles work when a horse is running.

This guy hangs out at the Mounted Police Barn.  Since I was taking pictures of animals I thought he should be included.
