August 26 Fred's cousin Bob in Monroe, ME

Bob's round house is a truly unique and amazing work of art.  Made almost entirely from trees located on his property, rocks he's collected all over the country, shells he collected with his Mom and other unique pieces to add interest to the walls.

When Bob was explaining how he built the fireplace he pointed out rocks from Utah and different places he'd lived before coming here to built his dream home.  Each rock has a story.

The floors are AMAZING!

The little guest "cottage" was his first experiment with building walls.

The gardens were loaded with fresh produce that he picked to go with the fresh lobster we had for dinner.  He's been away so he has a little "catching up to do" with the gardens, but he has vegetables, herbs and mints that he uses.

He also has edible flowers he uses in preparing food.

I found this framed photo and note from his daughter so moving I had to capture it.  Such a lovely sentiment to receive from a daughter on her special day.

Cousins who had not seen each other in probably 55 years!!  There's a funny story about this day.  Bob was not really sure who we were, but he welcomed us to stay with him, he gave us a detailed tour of his property, fed us an incredible meal and as we were about to have dessert I realized he might not know exactly who Fred was.  Turns out he didn't!   He actually thought we were his sister's husbands cousin!  Once we got that straight he and Fred shook hands and embraced as cousins.  We had a terrific laugh about that, but it spoke volumes about what a generous and kind person Bob is.
