August 23 Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor

There are 56 miles of carriage trails on the island and 17 bridges like this.  Today it's also used for hikers, bikers and cross country skiers as well as for horse back riding and carriage rides.

This kind of traffic is why we don't like to drive the RV in a National Park.  Lucky for us, with the car, we always found a place to pull over and check out the sites.  We purchased an Audible tour to listen to in the car while driving through the park.  That really made it interesting and a lot more fun.

The contrast from dark black molten rock (called dikes) to a bright pink granite rock made for an interesting contrast along the coast.

Bar Harbor

After all that driving and walking we stopped here for Nachos and beer and of course a little people watching.

One of the  hotels along the shore.

This is that ship we saw from the top of Cadillac Mt. with the red sails.

Headed "home" we drove through Ellsworth, which is another lovely New England town.

I never realized the wild blue berries grew on the ground.  I had only seen blueberries growing on taller bushes.  We have purchased several boxes of blueberries to enjoy along the way.  These small wild ones are the best of all!
